In summary, my current plan is as follows:
1. Eat maintain-weight calories every day (1600-1800 calories/day)
2. Make healthy choices within my calorie parameters (fruits, veggies, sprouting, etc.)
3. Exercise 3x+/week to improve my overall fitness and health, and to lose fat off of my body.

http://www.shed30in30.com To figure out how many calories you should have, first start with where you are. In other words, figure out how many calories it takes to maintain your present size and then reduce from there. Most people simply choose an arbitrary number like 1200 calories and that’s what they eat, but in nearly every case that’s not nearly enough calories to ensure adequate nutrition, not to mention the deprivation that sets up. Your basal metabolic rate (BMR) is the amount of calories that your body needs to survive without any activity. Say, if you are lying in hospital with a coma, your daily calorie consumption would very much equal your basal metabolic rate. To get a more precise reading on how many calories we should consume there is a fantastic formula which will help you target what you should be doing.
